Jane Freer

January 27, 1953 – June 5, 2026

Jane Freer of Amherst, NY, died peacefully at home under hospice care on June 5, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1953, in Long Island City, NY, to Norman and Rasha Rosenthal. She is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, Cameron and his partner, Anna, and Ben and his wife, Sara; and her two grandchildren, Nikoh and Sam. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mark and Ruth.

Jane was a special education teacher who worked for the Heritage Education Program for many years before teaching in the Clarence Central School District. She later worked for Erie 1 BOCES as a policy coordinator. She volunteered with Hospice Buffalo, Amherst Meals on Wheels, and the Food Shuttle of WNY.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday 2 PM at MESNEKOFF FUNERAL HOME, 8630 Transit Rd., E. Amherst 14051. Shiva will be held Sunday from 4:30-7:30PM and Monday 2-5PM at the Freer home.
