Efim Polyachenko
Efim Polyachenko, 77, of Buffalo, NY, passed away on May 6, 2026.
Efim was born on November 18th, 1948 to Mikhail and Shifra Polyachenko in Zhytomyr, Ukraine.
Efim lived a vibrant life excelling as a drummer, serving as a paratrooper and engaging in many adventurous hobbies. He had a long career in construction, owning several businesses specializing in restoration of water and fire damage.
Efim met Galina during childhood where they lived across the street from one another. They were friends for many years, prior to their relationship forming. They ended up getting married in Ukraine.
Efim has five sons: Igor, Oleg, Roman, Yuri, and Joseph; and six grandchildren. Efim was known for his infectious sense of humor and kindness. You could often find him center stage, filling a room with love and happiness. He was always surrounded by his family, friends and his beloved pets. He had a passion for animals. Having taken on the role of caretaker for many different species, he had an immense love for his 5 dogs, Bianca, Soda, Lola, Melrose and Taco.
In honor of Efim, donations can be made to the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter.
Efim is predeceased by his father, Mikhail and his mother, Shifra. He is survived by his wife Galina; his sons Igor, Oleg, married to Lesya, Roman, Yuri, married to Stéphanie, Joseph; and his grandchildren, Alex, Yuliana, Alisa, Leonardo, and Mila.

Services will take place at Mesnekoff Funeral Home on Friday, May 8th at 10:00 AM, followed by the burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A reception will be held at Rizzo’s Italian Eatery & Sweetery at 2:00 PM.
