Lawrence Harold Singer
Lawrence Singer (“Larry”), age 84, of Snyder, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Tonawanda, New York. He was born to Israel “Sonny” Singer and Fay Rudin Singer, and lived a life defined by generosity and deep devotion to his family. He attended Bennett High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science from the University at Buffalo.
Larry was a 50-year veteran of the advertising industry, widely respected in Western New York, Washington, D.C., and nationally for his leadership, creativity, and mentorship. He co-founded Singer Advertising & Marketing (formerly Ellis Singer Webb & Associates) and consistently ranked among the top 3 advertising agencies in Western New York.
His agency earned dozens of awards, most notably for the legendary NFL Buffalo Bills “Shout!” campaign and jingle, a lasting symbol of Bills Mafia sports culture, along with the iconic Delta Sonic “Super Kiss” campaign.
Larry was deeply involved in professional leadership through the American Advertising Federation, earning one of the industry's most prestigious awards, the Silver Medal.
In his later years, Larry worked locally for Dining Alliance, overseeing the Buffalo and Rochester regions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a pivotal role in helping small businesses access critical relief resources, including ERC and SBA funding.
Larry’s love for teaching, coaching and mentoring endured through his work at the University at Buffalo, where he worked as an adjunct professor for more than 40 years until his passing.
He cherished boating with family and friends and looked forward to a weekend boating trip every summer for his birthday. Camping was one of his favorite pastimes and he loved tinkering with the camping gear he collected over the years.
Known as the family’s handyman, Larry took great pride in knowing how to fix just about everything. He was also an excellent dancer, known for cha-cha and jitterbug.
Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Family was everything to him.
He was known to be charming, kind and a perfect gentleman. He was the family’s storyteller and keeper of memories and moments, often beginning conversations with, “I remember when…” It is hard to express how deeply he will be missed.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Marilyn P. Singer; his children, Marcy and Todd Arms, Jodi Singer, and Devyn and Harrison Singer; his brother, Barry Singer and wife Marilyn G. Singer; and his grandsons, Jason, Ben, and Max.
