Allan M. Lewis
October 31, 1944 – June 12, 2025
Allan M. Lewis was born on October 31, 1944, in Buffalo, NY, to Norman and Pauline Lewis. The oldest of three brothers (Lawrence and Richard), he graduated from Amherst High School in 1962, the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1966, and the University at Buffalo Law School in 1969.
After law school, Allan joined his father, a distinguished trial attorney, and started the law firm of Lewis & Lewis, P.C. As a young father and attorney, Allan also served his country in the Army National Guard.
Allan worked at Lewis & Lewis for his entire professional life, serving as managing partner for nearly 40 years. Under his leadership, the firm expanded across Western New York and grew to include a number of long-tenured partners. He was widely respected as a talented trial attorney, known for his intellect, integrity, and skill in the courtroom.
Beyond his career, Allan was an avid golfer and cherished time spent with friends on the course in both Buffalo and Florida. An avid sports fan, he proudly supported the Wisconsin Badgers, Buffalo Sabres, and most of all the Bills – holding season tickets throughout his life. He enjoyed horse racing and a good wager.
Allan’s greatest joy was his family. He was a selfless and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He shared over 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dana. He was a loving father to Craig (Karen), Gregg, Heather (David), and William (Andrea), and a proud grandfather to Gaby, Haley, Maddie, Autumn, Owen, Gabriel, Charlotte, and Dean.
Allan embodied the values of an earlier generation: he worked hard, took care of his family, was there when you needed him, and never sought the spotlight. Charitable, honest, and fun to be around, he will be sorely missed by his family, colleagues, and many friends.
